YouTube’s latest feature called New to You is designed for
its creator community to help creators get recognized, while also helping
viewers discover new videos to watch.
The aim of New to You is to suggest those videos to viewers
that are not frequently watched but can still catch their attention. The
feature works a little differently from YouTube’s Explore page, where trending
videos are recommended to watch.
YouTube’s product manager, Becca McArthur, explained that New to You was designed after users complained about their YouTube feeds appearing too dry. The company has, therefore, come up with a solution to make the video discovery experience a little more interesting for users.
There are two ways to access the new feature: a ‘New to You’
option will be displayed next to the categories section in the feed and a
pop-up of the option will appear as you scroll down your feed, while looking
for videos to watch.
The New to You feature will particularly be helpful for
creators, as it would give those a chance to be discovered whose content is not
popular on YouTube.
