Floodwaters might not seem as contaminated as these actually are. From E. coli to livestock waste, there could be way more pathogenic organisms beyond our imagination. Floodwaters are considered as a toxic soup of contaminants with terrible ratings.
According to the reports, in the previous year, around 59 people lost their lives due to the consumption of floodwater. Floodwaters can’t only drown a person but have several other threats.
This water picks up the content from literally everything and anything it comes in contact with. Be it livestock waste, infectious bacteria, bleach, industrial waste, gasoline, and even snakes or other live yet harmful organisms.
Anything who encounters flood water can be troubled with several types of diseases such as, Hepatitis A, skin rashes, electrocution. Typhoid, tetanus, GIT illness, etc. The health experts suggest staying away from the floodwater and if someone comes in contact with it, the area must be washed immediately with soap.
