A study was recently conducted on the effectiveness of Netflix
VPN bans across different VPN platforms. Since Netflix provides its content on
the basis of regions, this means that not all TV shows and films are available
to watch in every country.
As a result, many users utilize VPN software to get access to Netflix content that may not be legally available to them. For instance, a user from a South Asian country could use a VPN service to get access to a server in a European country.
Like any other platform that takes action against illegal
practices, Netflix started to blacklist VPN IP addresses, resulting in errors
at users’ ends who’d be using VPN to login. However, given the unbeatable
intelligence of technology, many of the VPN services managed to overcome the
ban, according to the research conducted. Some of these services included NordVPN,
ExpressVPN, Hotspot Shield, StrongVPN, PureVPN, SurfShark and Cyberghost.
The study was conducted for 37 VPN services across 20
countries. Among these, the only few VPNs that weren’t successful in bypassing the
ban were Speedify and Unloactor. Moreover, none of the successful VPN services required
an external software to unblock content.
