Snapchat is working on expanding its developer tools for
Spotlight and is letting developers integrate their apps into Spotlight clips. As
a result, Snapchat users will be able to create Spotlight videos with the new
creative tools and post them directly to the Spotlight feed.
For instance, a user can use the Voicey app to make their
Spotlight clip and then publish the clip to the Spotlight feed. The Voicey link
will be displayed along with the clip and tapping the link would show other
Spotlight videos created using the Voicey app. A quick link to download the app
will also be provided.
By expanding these creative tools, Snapchat is providing a
range of functionalities and new ways to create Spotlight videos, apart from
the tools available in the main app. As a result of this effort, Snapchat’s development
partners would also benefit from the promotional value of this expansion.
The current Spotlight integrations that Snapchat is offering
include services like Lightricks, Splice, Powder, and Piñata Farms, and others.
Above all, Snapchat is levelling up with this expanded
Spotlight toolset, in terms of its competition with rival app TikTok that is based
on the same format as Spotlight.
