In a continuous attempt of competing against TikTok,
Facebook is now working on bringing a new addition to its platform, called
Reels clips display. With this option, an alternative feed display of Stories,
Reels, and in-progress Rooms will be seen.
The option was spotted by social media analyst Alessandro
Paluzzi and it is currently being tested by Facebook.
By bringing a Reels clips display to Facebook, the social
media company is trying to increase the user engagement of Instagram Reels, as the
Facebook app is used by 2.85b people per month. While Instagram also has a few
billion users, many users of Facebook do not use Instagram, and therefore the
integration of Reels into Facebook can boost engagement with the TikTok rival.
Facebook is also working on the algorithm for Reels to
increase interest in the feature and its usage. A new payment program for Reels
creators is also on the way, which is similar to Snapchat’s payment program for
Spotlight’s top clips.
There are also other ways that Facebook is trying to
increase Reels exposure to Facebook users, such as testing Reels
recommendations in Facebook Watch and user feeds, and bringing the option to
make Reels videos directly in Facebook’s app.
