A child needs equal time from both of its parents but, some working parents are unable to spend as much time with their kids as they should. If we talk about fathers specifically, despite all the love and spoiling, they, unfortunately, spend lesser time with their kids.
As the infographic shows, US fathers get no parental leave at all. The country was among the ones that lack paid maternity leave for new moms but, fathers are also kept from getting a day off from their work to spend some quality time with their kids at home.
In various developed countries, new fathers are seen to take leave for weeks or even leave the job in order to give all of their time to their just-born child. Japan seems to be a pretty considerate country in terms of parental leave since new fathers there are allowed 30 weeks of leave that too, paid.
South Korea on the other hand allows 17 weeks of paid parental leave to the father only and ranks as the second whereas, Sweden rounds of the third position with an allowance of 10 weeks’ parental leave for dads.
Even though Japan and South Korea offer an extremely generous parental leave to the fathers, very few of them avail this opportunity since they fear complications in their careers.
The United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada accompany the United States with no parental leaves for the new dads while their baby is just born.
