Apple released an update for iOS and iPadOS 14.6 RC, which
has brought with it a new Shazam App Clip. The Shazam App Clip will let users find
and identify songs directly with the new iOS 14 feature, instead of being
redirected to the Shazam website or app.
App Clips is an exclusive iOS 14 feature, which is basically a small, mini-app that can run on a device, without having to be downloaded as an app from the App Store. App Clips can be activated via a number of ways, like the App Clip QR code, an NFC tag, or even websites.
Apple has now started to implement this feature with its own
apps, like how it has added a direct Shazam toggle into Control Center. This way,
users are able to identify songs playing from their device, as well as songs
playing around them without needing to download the Shazam app.
The Shazam toggle can be turned on in Control Centre from
Settings. As a result, your device will identify a song, and the Shazam App
Clip will appear. In the App Clip, users will be offered a number of options,
such as sharing songs, hearing a short preview, and opening it in Apple Music.
