The nuclear energy emitted by the nuclear reactions is used in a variety of ways, out of which the most prominent uses are the production of electricity by using the energy in steam turbines. There are multiple ways to obtain nuclear energy, such as nuclear fusion, nuclear fission, and nuclear decay reactions. According to the infographic below, nuclear power provided nearly 24.9 percent of the primary energy in the year 2019; moreover, about 10 percent of the entire world's electricity was produced via nuclear reactions.
Several nuclear power plants in the world are currently operating, and many are under construction. The number of operable nuclear plants in the world is 441, whereas 54 are under construction. In the United States, nuclear power is considered a source of cleanest power, and about 800 billion kilowatts per hour of electricity is generated annually through nuclear energy in the country.
