The old saying of 'good news travels fast' may have been lost on 2020. I can't think of a single good thing personally that I heard in the news all of last year. It has been pretty doom and gloom for the majority of the world with the pandemic shutting down everything and killing thousands. It is hard to constantly hear all the terrifying prospects going on in the world surrounding the virus and on top of that everything that went along with the election, what a wild ride.
We all need some good news and luckily this graphic put together by the team at AAA State of Play shows 42 Good Things that Happened in 2020. Some of my heartwarming favorites from this list include: Drools the dog finding his forever home after waiting in a Colorado shelter for 729 days! Or the fact that the elephant population doubled in Kenya during 2020.
Other items on this list like LGBTQ employees being protected by civil rights employment statutes have been a long time coming and I am so glad that in 2020 they were finally recognized. Deaths from terrorism falling for a 5th consecutive year was also a highlight. There are many positives for the environment on this list also like the fact that 10% of all cars sold in 2020 were electric or fourteen countries owning 40% of the world’s shorelines coming together to form the 'Ocean Panel' to end overfishing, restore habitats, and reduce plastic pollution. If you need a pick me up, this list is very wholesome.
