YouTube has just announced that it will be bringing a bunch
of new features to YouTube TV, in the form of an add-on package with 4K
streaming, offline viewing, and unlimited concurrent streams. The features are
set to roll out in the next few weeks, according to the company.
No additional details about the new features have been shared, such as whether offline downloads will be limited to certain channels or shows, or what kind of content will be available to watch in 4K streaming.
As for the concurrent streams, YouTube currently offers only
three concurrent streams at maximum, but it looks like the company will soon
remove this restraint, hence allowing users to enjoy unlimited concurrent
streaming from the comfort of their homes. The addition of offline viewing is a
big one, as this feature is rarely offered by streaming services.
The term “add-on package” indicates that in order to avail
the new YouTube TV features, users would have to pay more than the standard $65
monthly subscription.
