According to Twitch’s spokesperson, Donald Trump’s account from the platform has been disabled for an indefinite period. The decision was made after the shocking attack and Trump’s encouragement of the US Capitol mob’s attack. Moreover, Trump’s incendiary rhetoric also damages the community; hence the company decided to turn his account down and save the community from further violence.
However, his account is still live, which means that his Twitch profile and archives will be available, but Trump won’t be able to stream until the channel is disabled. Twitch banned Trump’s channel temporarily for two weeks back in June 2020 as well because of the “hateful conduct” that he streamed.
Facebook also locked Trump’s account from the platform on Thursday and announced to lift it after the Inauguration Day. In addition, on Wednesday, Twitter suspended Trump’s account in response to violating its policies. The social media giant says that further violations of the policies will lead to the permanent termination of his Twitter account.
Twitch decided to lift the restriction from Trump’s account once he leaves his office.
