Google’s Smart Selection Menu has been providing a number of
efficient features ever since it was launched. It helps you carry out small
tasks in a simple way, such as using options like ‘select all,’ ‘copy’, and ‘share,’
with just a little thumb exertion, to copy a text that you are reading on your
phone, or copying a phone number and pasting it on the dial pad to carry on
with a call without having to first write or type the number somewhere else to
dial it.
The company is now expanding Smart Selection’s functionality with a new feature called Convert. The update is available for Android 9 and all the later versions of Android.
The option of Convert is going to allow you to convert a
number of numerical values such as units or currencies. Instead of separately
typing a query in your Google Search bar to convert a value, you can use the Convert
option in the Smart Selection menu with a simple click, that will automatically
take you to Google Search, where the query would be already typed in for you.
Although it would have been better if Smart Selection could
provide us with an answer to our query directly instead of taking us to Google
Search, the feature is still relatively fast and convenient. Google may even
ease the functionality later on, we never know.
