The total number of people who have contracted the COVID-19 virus has exceeded 76 million worldwide with more than 1 million deaths. Out of these 76 million people, several patients are government officials of different countries. Many high profiles have also contracted the virus that includes, Prime Minister of UK, Russia, Armenia, Bulgaria, President of the USA (former), Poland, Brazil, Belarus and a few more.
According to the infographic, the most recent addition to the list of world leaders who tested positive for the Coronavirus is the President of France, Emmanuel Macron. Mr. President got his PCR test done as soon as he experienced the first symptom, and unfortunately, his reports came out positive.
The first prominent political leader to contract the virus was Boris Johnson, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. He shared the news with the public on March 27th and had to spend a week in the hospital. Johnson was also shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for three nights. He finally recovered from the virus and posted again on April 27th. Jair Bolsonaro, Brazil’s President, announced on June 7th that he had also been tested positive for the disease.
On October 2nd, 2020, former American President Donald Trump announced that he and his wife, Melania Trump, has been tested positive for the COVID-19. Due to the positive report, Trump had to cancel his travel plans for a re-election campaign and was admitted in Walter Reed Medical Center for three nights.
The Prime Minister of Eswatini, Ambrose Dlamini died on December 13th in hospital; however, the cause of his death is unknown. He died four weeks after testing positive for the Coronavirus.
