Climate change has become a topic that cannot be neglected now. As the world is progressing, the climate has been affecting due to various activities of the industries. From plastic waste to harmful gases, everything is contributing to global warming. In order to aware the world of the disastrous climate change that we are heading to, a lot of campaigns have been initiated. People are trying to find alternate ways to reduce pollution and save nature. Similarly, many industries have opted for the techniques and created eco-friendly policies and don’t cause harm to our planet. According to the latest reports of 2020, there are still some industries that do not care about climate change; in fact, their plastic waste has doubled with time.
The infographic highlights the top ten worst companies that still produce plastic waste, and as per it, Coca-Cola, PepsiCo, and Nestle are the top three 2020 plastic polluters in the world. Audits were conducted by volunteers from Break Free from Plastic for their plastic movement this year in which they collected samples of polluted plastics with each's parent cooperation. The analysis showed that Coco-Cola was the leading brand in plastic polluters with over 13k plastic pieces from around 51 countries. The other two were PepsiCo with 5k plastic pieces in 43 countries and Nestle with 8k plastic pieces in 37 countries.
Around 15,000 volunteers from 55 countries audited 575 different brands for plastic waste and collected around 346,000 plastic pieces. Coco-Cola, PepsiCo, and Nestle are found to be the three biggest plastic polluters in the world for three years consecutively. Despite having membership from the New Plastics Economy Global Commitment, several companies continue to create massive plastic waste without caring about climate change. Even after many campaigns and struggles, 2020 seems to be the worst in terms of plastic waste production.
