Right after the announcement of the successful invention of the Covid-19 vaccine by Pfizer and Moderna, people from all around the globe got a spark of hope. However, the companies will start delivering the doses by the start of 2021. The Covid-19 pandemic has hit our world hard and disturbed the entire lifestyle for an undefined period. People have been forced to stay in their homes no matter what, and everything has relied on technology. All the fun and gatherings we used to have with our loved ones are restricted until the world is free from the deadly Coronavirus. The virus has also impacted the entire world’s economy in an extremely adverse way that the countries are still figuring out ways to recover from the loss as soon as the pandemic ends.
All that the world wants is an effective vaccine that makes them immune from the Covid-19 virus so that the world can return to normal again. For that purpose, all the rich nations of the world have pre-ordered Covid-19 vaccines in bulk amount for their people. Oxfam charity conducted an analysis that showed; the rich states have bought enough vaccines that will easily vaccinate their whole population thrice in 2021. These wealthy countries make up only 14% of the total population of the world. The infographic tells that due to the massive amount of vaccines bought by rich nations, the poor countries will have to suffer the pandemic till 2022. Oxfam warns the world that every 9 out of 10 people in underdeveloped countries will be unable to get vaccinated till 2022.
Rich countries are taking advantage of their wealth without caring about the poor countries of the world. This has to be a People’s vaccine instead of a profit vaccine. Laboratories will never be able to produce vaccines of such a huge scale until countries decide to care and share. The rich countries that have already bought millions of Covid-19 vaccine doses include the USA, UK, Australia, Japan, Switzerland, Israel, and the EU.
