TikTok may be bringing a significant change to video creating on its platform by allowing users to record longer videos, up to 3 minutes, to be exact. Social media consultant Matt Navarra noticed the update, according to which the feature is still in the early access stages.

Right now, videos can be recorded to maximum 1 minute on TikTok, which is an apparently sufficient and satisfactory length. In fact, the exact 60 seconds videos are what make TikTok stand out as the videos are longer than a Vine and shorter than a YouTube video. The 1 minute duration is just enough for an individual’s attention span.
However, TikTok seems to be checking if a 3 minutes long video duration would be something that the content creator community would enjoy.
The move can also backfire the same way when Twitter decided to double the length of tweets and users weren’t happy with the change.
TikTok’s 1-minute videos have been its highlight and they basically define the popular social platform. We can’t say how exactly people would perceive the new update, until TikTok decides to officially roll the update out.
