Samsung Electronics and TikTok have announced a new
partnership to bring TikTok on Samsung Smart TVs. The service will be available
to users in Europe for now, starting from the UK.
The new TikTok app has been specifically designed to provide
a home-viewing experience with the For You and Following feeds, along with the
most liked and viewed TikTok content. There will be 12 categories of the
content, including Gaming, Comedy, Animals, Food, etc. Moreover, people can watch
#LearnOnTikTok videos for the latest cooking hacks, health and fitness tips, and
other fun and educative things.
The service will be available for all Samsung Smart TV models
from 2008-2010 onwards, says Samsung. This will also include Samsung’s award
winning 4K and 8K TVs, The Smart Monitor, The Premiere, The Frame and The
Serif.
The new app will be available to download on the Samsung Smart TV App Store and if you purchase a new Samsung TV, it will have the app pre-installed onto it. The content, whether one owns a TikTok account or not, will be available to watch for everyone.
The app will also come with its automatic Restricted Mode,
to filter out content that may not be appropriate for certain audiences. You will
also be able to block or mark content that you may not be interested in.
About the launch, Samsung said that it strives to give its
customers ‘’an unrivalled content offering to guarantee endless entertainment
and the latest addition of TikTok’’ to its app line-up, which would unlock a
new entertainment experience. ‘’With our QLED technology, customers will be
able to watch the TikTok content creations on a big screen with lifelike
picture resolution to maximize their viewing experience,” said Dan Hastings,
Director, TV/AV Samsung Electronics UK.
TikTok on the other hand, believes in bringing the
creativity and joy of TikTok to more people across the UK through TV screens as
people have been spending more time this past year watching Television with
loved ones. ‘’Our new TikTok app will give the millions of Samsung TV owners
access to our trending recipe hacks, comedy skits, challenges and more –
straight into living rooms across the country,’’ said Rich Waterworth, General
Manager, TikTok UK.
