2020 has been an absolute roller coaster ride; the entire world has suffered a lot together and is still fighting for it. No wonder there were more downs than ups in the entire year but let’s change our perspective for a moment and cherish how this year has helped us grow and learn new things. While staying in the homes, people discovered new ways to communicate with their loved ones, find ways to work even in difficult situations, stay more productive and organized. If we look forward to the discovery of applications, there are numerous mobile apps that have gained a massive number of users during the Covid-19 pandemic. One example is TikTok, the app was already getting more and more popular over the years, but in 2020, the company saw a boost in the downloads.
People were extremely exhausted in their homes due to the lockdowns and quarantine all around the world, and they required peace of mind and a little bit of entertainment in their dull lives. Despite facing security issues, getting banned in the world’s second-largest internet market, India, and being uncertain about its future in the USA, TikTok has become a billion-user platform.
TikTok, today, has rolled out a new option, “Year in Review,” for its users all around the world, which lets the user feel nostalgic about their activity on the application. Through this feature, users will be able to get a personal highlight of the tracks, videos, and effects that they engaged the most within the application in 2020. Everyone who shares their year memory on TikTok will receive a “2021” badge for their profile, which will be added to their display picture.
Similar options are available on Snapchat, Facebook, and Instagram as well that show the users their year(s) old memories and allows them to re-share them with their friends. TikTok was able to generate Year clips for users who have been active on the platform and show enough engagements that can be included in the highlight.
