Several iPhone users have experienced an issue with iOS 14
in terms of receiving notifications for Messages. Users are complaining that
they don’t receive timely notifications for being informed of unread messages.
The issue seemed to be limited to the range of iPhone 12
initially, but then users using other models of iPhone, including the iPhone 11
range, also began to experience the same problem.
A post on the Apple Support forum titled "iOS 14 text notification
issues" from September 19 now has 43 pages of replies, and has been tagged
with "I have this question too" by 5,265 users.
Majority of the users have reported similar symptoms related to the issue, like not seeing the banner on the lock screen, or missing notifications when messages are received, or no red badge alert on the Messages app to show that there are unread messages.
Users have also tried various strategies to resolve the
issue manually, such as restarting their devices, resetting them, and even changing
settings on other Apple hardware that can receive iCloud-synchronized messages,
but nothing has seemed to work.
Some users have also reported issues with group messages,
where they are not receiving some of the messages on time.
Apple hasn’t responded to the matter as of yet, and while
the latest iOS update has addressed a bunch of issues, it hasn’t sorted out
this particular problem.
