WhatsApp is planning to replace its Archived Chats feature with Read Later. The new feature may be available as part of the next update of WhatsApp.
Read Later is going to be an improved version of Archived Chats and it will be different from Archived Chats because unlike Archived Chats, it won’t show any notifications when a new message in the chat is received. Unarchiving the chat would simply reverse the process.
Once rolled out, the Read Later option will be visible at the top of the WhatsApp chat list. Opening it will display useful information about the feature.
According to WhatsApp, it has replaced Archived Chats with Read Later as a way to reduce interruptions when a new message arrives. Therefore, chats in the Read Later section will stay there even if a new message is received and no notification will be sent, unless you opt to unarchive the chats.
The feature is still under development and WhatsApp hasn’t yet revealed when exactly it plans to release it.
