Currently, cardiovascular diseases are the major cause of death among middle-aged adults all around the globe. However, according to the study published in The Lancet journal, cancers are now becoming a major cause of death, especially in developed countries. Furthermore, the study also said that cancer could overtake cardiovascular diseases as a major cause of death in the coming decades. A group of researchers found out that cancers kill people more twice than heart diseases do in high-income countries.
If we talk about America specifically, cancer has also killed an enormous number of people; however, according to the infographic attached below, breast cancer is the most leading type in women and prostate cancer in men. The second most common cancer for women and men both in the USA is lung cancer. Although there is a slight difference in the percentage. Women in the USA are vulnerable to thyroid cancer as well, whereas men are susceptible to melanoma of the skin.
