The coronavirus has been around since the beginning of the year, affecting businesses. But home delivery services have flourished quite a lot. Although Uber's riding business had come to a halt, its food delivery segment has been flourishing. Since there have been plenty of restrictions imposed on vehicles due to the global pandemic, it was expected that Uber would only be facing disadvantages due to the ongoing lockdown situation.
The segment, known as Uber Eats, continues to take steps forward, leaving the main ride-sharing segment behind. So far, the gross bookings for Uber Eats have risen by 75 percent. And that was just in the first nine months of 2020. As for the main ride-booking segment, it has only increased its revenue by twice.
