The app analytics provider App Annie has revealed that in 2021, TikTok is expected to surpass one billion users. According to the source’s report, TikTok has observed a significant rise in the number of active users this year and by the next year, it is predicted that the company will sail past to 1.2 billion users.
Moreover, TikTok holds the record of second-highest consumer spend among non-gaming apps in the third quarter of 2020. The company not only monetizes through ads on its platform but also allows in-app transactions via sales of virtual gifts used for tipping streamers.
While this new report suggests big things for TikTok, the question is if TikTok will still be functional in the U.S., which is its biggest market.
According to the latest updates regarding TikTok’s ban in the U.S., the Pennsylvania District Court had ruled against the proposed ban against TikTok, after a large group of TikTok users protested that banning the app would impact their livelihoods. As a result, Tiktok was allowed to operate normally in the country without any repercussions.
Furthermore, with the Trump Administration being no more in power and Joe Biden as the new President of the U.S., things are likely to become a lot more different for TikTok, as reports have revealed that a Biden Administration is expected to take a less strict stance on the matter.
"Robert Atkinson, the president of the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation, which is funded by U.S. tech companies, said the TikTok ban was “much more of a Trump issue” that Biden might drop.", said a Denver post.
