Internet is undoubtedly the best innovation of man. It has
eased a lot of work by making it quicker and reliable. Since the last three
decades, internet has changed a lot. From the days of connecting to AOL in hours
to doing more complex stuff in seconds, we have experienced a substantial
growth in the speed and reliability of the internet.
1991 marked the year when the first web browser was released
and the first web page was published to the public. From there, we saw tons of
new websites, web pages, and even companies like Amazon starting up. The internet
has been a phenomenon and it has more significance in our lives than ever
before. It has become a part of our daily lives which is evidence of the impact
it has had on our daily lives.
As of 2018, an average American spends 6.3 hours on the
internet per day. Social media is another revolutionary innovation as it has
helped connect people from all over the world. Every one in three people in the
world is an active user of the social media. As of July 2020, 4.5 billion
people are active internet users which makes up 59 percent of the global
population.
Around 640,000 first time users go online daily, meaning 27,000
people hourly. Canada has more than 33 million active internet users, which
makes up 95 percent of the country’s population. People of ages 18 to 34 spend
at least 5 hours per day on the internet.
