Summer time is a great time to go skinny dipping or go to
the beach but it is also a time of the scorching heat of the sun blazing its
way on your skin. Even if you are in your home, people face the same heat that
they feel outside because the overall temperature of the house has gone up. This
rise in the home temperature is mostly caused by the roofing material of your
house.
The roofing material can directly impact the temperature of
the house. If you have ever been on your roof on a hot day, you may know
exactly what it is like. The heat from your roof builds up in your attic which impacts
the temperature inside your house. The material type of material you use on your
roof will not only tone down the temperatures by a good amount but it will also
keep your attic cool and all the stuff in it.
A dark colored roof is the worse for a hot day. Dark colors
absorb the heat in themselves and throw the heat inside the building. On a hot,
bright and sunny day, a dark colored roof can reach up to temperature of over
170 Fahrenheit. Keeping it light with the right materials is the way to go
about if you living in a state where the heat becomes unbearable like Arizona
or Texas.
Take a look at the following infographic for a more in-depth
information about rooftop materials and their impact on the overall house
temperature.
