PlayStation remains the best-selling video game console #infographic

With the start of the holiday season this year, a battle between two of the most prominent names in the world of gaming consoles, i.e., PlayStation and Xbox will be started. Both the companies have launched their latest models that are, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, and surprisingly both consoles are priced the same, i.e., $499.

PlayStation recently celebrated its 20th anniversary this year. The PlayStation 2 was launched two decades ago in 2000 in Japan before any other countries. People from all around the globe were desperately waiting for the PS2 console to be released in their region; however, the console was launched worldwide in the same year in the fall. As soon as it was released, the PlayStation 2 became a massive hit that even after the release of PlayStation 3, gamers preferred the PS2. To your surprise, PlayStation 2 was hit to the extent that it remained in production till the year 2013. According to the users, it was one of the most reasonable yet best gaming console systems.

Since the launch of PS2, the company has sold 155 million console units that surely makes it the most widely purchased and best-selling video game console ever. Sony has been dominating the video game hall of fame since forever, and that is what the infographic below shows us. Of the top five positions, Sony has seen dominating four positions since the past two decades in the gaming hall of fame.
