After the development of a vaccine by Pfizer, which showed 90% effective results against the deadly Coronavirus, the Moderna vaccine becomes another one to exceed our expectations with exceptional results. Since the start of the pandemic, scientists from all around the world have started their efforts to find an effective cure for fighting this disease. Numerous vaccines were made, which all unfortunately failed in their different levels of trials. Vaccine from Pfizer was the first to be successful against the disease, and now Moderna vaccine has made its spectacular entry.
However, both of the vaccines are composed of synthetic messenger RNA (mRNA). The Moderna vaccine trials were carried out on 30,000 U.S. adults that also included people highly vulnerable to severe Covid-19. Out of 95 people who were initially given the vaccine shots, only 5 individuals contained the virus.
The vaccine is suggested to be administered in two shots; the second shot will be given 28 days after the first one. However, some people experienced side effects after the second vaccine shot that included fever, muscle ache, headache, and redness. Unlike Pfizer, the Moderna vaccine doesn’t require a cold environment to be stored in; it can stay stable at normal freezer temperature, i.e., 2-8 degrees Celsius.
According to the latest research, the world is now facing the mutated form of Coronavirus, which is interestingly suspected to be highly vulnerable to the new vaccines. The scientists discovered that the new mutated strain of the Covid-19 virus spread way faster but doesn’t have the capability to produce severe illness in the individual.
