UNESCO world heritage sites are spread all over the world, and they are among those esteemed historical places that travellers look out for. However, some countries are simply blessed with more heritage sites than others. On the top of the list are Italy and China.
It is the United Nations that handles these sites marked as world heritage sites. All the historical buildings or other sites that have any value in terms of culture and history, are taken under the administration of UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization).
Coming back to Italy and China, both the countries have equally 55 UNESCO world heritage sites. Whereas Spain ranks third with 48 UNESCO world heritage sites. Have a look at the following infographic to learn more about how other countries rank in terms of the number of UNESCO world heritage sites.
