D. student pointed out the algorithm of Twitter for removing the black part of the Tweet preview while striking out the white parts. These features were only assumed to be bugs until the Twitter itself accepted to automated cropping of the Twitter preview.
The recent study by Twitter put focuses on the potential damage a cropped photo has the capability to bring. However, the algorithm utterly works on saliency, rejecting any claims for prejudice or biases.
