The COVID-19 pandemic has been a scary time for several countries and people from around the world. Even if you haven't known anyone personally who has tested positive for the coronavirus, the pandemic as a whole has had an effect on everyone's lives as they know it. However, as terrible as the COVID-19 pandemic has been in a lot of ways, it's not the deadliest pandemic ever.
From CEU Fast, this infographic looks at the deadliest pandemics from our world's history, and how much of an impact each had on the human population. The worldwide smallpox epidemic has proven to be the deadliest, as it claimed around 500 million lives over roughly a one hundred year time period. It was so deadly, in fact, that the 2nd deadliest (the Spanish Flu) had 10% of the deaths as the smallpox epidemic, with 50 million deaths. As of October 14th, 2020 (according to the data), COVID-19 has claimed about 1,080,000 lives.
