Since the event of election is extremely chaotic and in order to prevent the unnecessary mess, Google announced that the company would stop taking ads for political campaigns as soon as the polls close on 3rd November. The company has also published some new updates regarding hacking campaigns during elections, the addition of poll stations on Google Maps so that users can easily find theirs, added labels on YouTube for the content that shares misinformation about voting, and last but not the least, released a Google News Hub exclusively to provide authoritative information and news on 2020 elections.
Google offered similar features in previous elections as well and also partnered with Associated Press in 2016 to create an “election buzz” tool. But the situation in 2020 is different than every year in which elections were held, and the chances of spread of false and unverified information are pretty high.
Almost every social media platform is making efforts to make sure that the elections pass smoothly without any mess. Furthermore, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, and several other companies have rolled out different features to prevent the spread of fake information and guide the US-based users perfectly throughout.
