Donald Trump shared a post on Facebook and Twitter on 6th October in which he claimed that the Americans have learnt to cope up and live with the ongoing situation; he adds that the upcoming season, i.e., winter is flu season, which is less deadly than the Covid-19. Facebook, as per its policies, noticed the post and removed it immediately later; the company confirmed to CNN that the post had been banned by the site. However, Twitter has not yet removed the post; instead, it has added a warning label to it.
A CNN reporter tweeted about Facebook that the company has strictly warned every user about spreading false information regarding Covid-19 or any other thing that can potentially damage society. Though we are unaware of the accurate mortality rate, but it is clear that Covid-19 is way more lethal than the normal flu. As per Trump’s statement, around 100,000 Americans lose their lives against the flu annually, which is not only incorrect but not even close to the real number, that is, between 24,000 to 62,000 deaths per year. Whereas, Covid-19 has taken 210,000 Americans’ lives since March 2020.
