How far have we reached in the race to pursue electric vehicles? Good things don't come easy and having said that. these electric vehicles will be out of reach for many consumers. There are many challenges that come along with the assumption that electric vehicles will soon rule the future. Many of these challenges may not be challenges for a minor portion of the population, but for the majority, they are.
The first most challenging element of electric vehicles will be its price. For the majority of the population, that is, around 60% of the population in the United States, electric vehicles will be far from affordable. And that's not all. Just to get these electric vehicles into the mainstream market, the starting price tag is coming out to be at least 36,000 US dollars, which is quite a huge amount.
The second challenge is the amount of electricity these vehicles will consume. The charging time is expected to be around 31 minutes, which of course is quite long if we consider energy-saving issues. So consumers who will be able to afford these electric vehicles will obviously be able to afford the electricity required to charge it. But this can prove to be both efficient and disadvantageous for the environment.
