We have many advanced forms of technology now. But along with these technological solutions, scams and cybercrime shave been equally rising as well. Of all the digital communication channels available to us, SMS is the most common. Every person has incoming SMSs, even if they are not paying attention to them, or even if they use other social media platforms to stay in touch with their friends, relatives and close ones. You may be surprised to know that more than 90% of messages via SMS are fraudulent.
But in what manner are they fraudulent though? Well, fraudulent scam texts can contain strange links, or they can even contain numbers and prompt you to call on those numbers to win something, for instance. And the worst they of all can be SMSs that inquire extremely sensitive information, such as your debit or credit card pin code, your other bank details, your personal information such as your CNIC number. It is to prevent the tactics of such SMSs that various banks circulate warning messages to their customers.
