Twitter is rolling out its Voice Tweets feature to more users on iOS. The feature allows users to record an audio message that they can add in their Tweet. Twitter also announced that it is planning to add transcriptions to this feature in order to improve accessibility, in response to the user feedback it received after the launch of voice tweets.

Users pointed out lack of accessibility in voice tweets since the feature wasn’t supported with transcription. It was then revealed that the social media company didn’t even have a team dedicated to improving accessibility across its platform.
This news was followed by Twitter’s announcement earlier this month about two new teams that it launched that would work towards improving accessibility on Twitter. One team would be focused on accessibility within the company’s products, while the other would focus on accessibility for Twitter as a business.
In relation to improved accessibility, Twitter also announced that it would release a new feature of automated captions for audio and video as soon as early 2021.
While there is no sign of transcriptions being part of voice tweets yet, they may be released in the near future. Twitter hasn’t, however, shared any details on the matter as of yet.
