The wealth gap between the top one percent and the bottom ninety-nine percent in the United States is a major issue that is continuing to grow. America has the greatest wealth disparity out of any other developed nation.
Using data from the Economic Policy Institute, this infographic ranks each U.S. state based on how wide of a gap exists between the ultra-rich and those who are not within that upper echelon.
New York has the greatest wealth disparity in the United States. At an average annual income of $2,202,480, the one percent makes a staggering 44.4 times as much as the bottom ninety-nine percent. Shortly behind New York is Florida. The top one percent in Florida makes 39.5 times as much as the bottom ninety-nine percent. In third place is Connecticut where the top one percent makes 37.2 times as much as the bottom ninety-nine percent.
