Are you new to the world of superheroes? Even if you are, you may have already heard of Batman. The extremely popular character by DC Comics rules the hearts of many via comic books, films and merchandise of all sort. What makes Batman the most appealing is the entire setting and the unique story that is encompassed by each book and film.
And even yet, Batman keeps gaining new fans. But fans of old new, all of them have a unique history as to how they were first introduced to this dark, billionaire superhero. As per the findings of a 2019 survey, Batman gained the most fans via live-action tv shows, approximately 25% of the fandom. This comes as a bit surprising fact, as originally it is a comic character, and one might have expected most of the fandom to have been built from either comics or animated tv shows.
Apart from which media helped gain Batman the most fans for the very first time, the actors played a role too. Both literally and non-literally. Most of the fans have voted on Adam West as their all-time favourite Batman, who played the role of Batman in a live-action tv series. Other than tv shows, video games and action figures also helped the character introduce itself to first-time fans and welcome them to the fandom.
And although it has been 80 years since the origins of the character, it continues to make new fans with the help of a variety of media. The infographic below shows statistics concerning how Americans were introduced to the character for the very first time, according to each medium.
