To fight the battle against Covid-19, The Public Health Authority has invented an app that is running for the purpose to guide and elaborate on the precautionary measures. All of this is done with the help of Exposure Notification Express. Recently, Google and Apple have also announced their collaboration with the PHA to fight for the cause and bring awareness through digital channels.
With the involvement of Google and Apple, now users will not have to bear the hassle of downloading individual applications on their cellphones; instead, they will be notified once they get their updates iOS 13.7 and Android 6.0 done. After the update, your phone will receive a notification from where you can either choose to participate in it or not. If you choose to participate in this cause, every time the exposure scale is out of balance, exposure notification will be created and sent to the PHAs. Upon receiving this notification from the user, the authorities will guide the users with the right precautionary steps.
The system o which the users will be operating the app is designed to achieve a simple interface, especially for the non-tech people. The criteria based on which the exposure is computed are solely the responsibility of the PHAs.
Likewise, many companies are expected to be a part of this invention, especially when it ensures positive feedback. As per Google and Apple, these services must be enabled for those who live across the borders and share the same systems as them. Despite all the inaccurate information regarding the contact tracing and its misperceptions, Apple and Google dauntingly believe that on the digital aid provided by such dedicated apps.
The risk of privacy is still the subject of interest for many, but with the promising services provided by Apple and Google, it is ensured by the companies that the privacy of the user is wholly maintained. The application works at a distance of Bluetooth range to detect any exposure risk in the surroundings.
In a nutshell, the tech companies have joined the battle against Covid-19 and are doing everything they can to prevent it from spreading, be it through a digital channel or virtual environment.
