DuckDuckGo is a privacy-focused search engine that allows users to share their information privately online. In August this year, over 2 billion searches have been made via DuckDuckGo, according to the statistics shared by the company. In addition to that, about 4 million extension and app installs have been made via DuckDuckGo and it has about 65 million active users.

While Google remains the most popular search engine, DuckDuckGo has been recently gaining some popularity too, thanks to the element of privacy that it offers. With the milestones that DuckDuckGo has been achieving, it looks like it can gain an even wider reach soon, if it continues to grow steadily.
Moreover, it is safe to say that one of the reasons for DuckDuckGo's success has also been Google, as the company recently faced some privacy scandals.
One problem with DuckDuckGo, however, is that its search results are not up-to-date unlike Google's and Bing's search results, because DuckDuckGo does not monitor what users search for; keeping privacy as its priority.
