According to the data, the average commute time is 26.4 minutes, with the best average commute time being in Wichita, Kansas, at 19.5 minutes.
It's actually the only area on the ranking that comes in at under 20 minutes, as the 2nd best time on this infographic is 20.2 minutes for Omaha-Council Bluffs NE-IA. The worst average commute time is, to probably no surprise, New York-Newark-Jersey City NY-NJ-PA, where it's an average of 36.3 minutes. Five of the top 20 metro areas for having bad commute times are all located in California, and Idaho and Ohio have a few each in the best twenty average times.
