WhatsApp has a label in the form of two arrows for forwarded messages shared in chats that shows that the message has been forwarded a number of times. The recipients of a message with this label would know that the message was not written by a close contact. Earlier this year, WhatsApp made additional changes by setting limits on how many times a forwarded message can be sent at a time. The feature was added in order to maintain the private nature of the social media platform.
Now WhatsApp has added another feature called Search The Web to allow users to double check forwarded messages by tapping a magnifying glass button in the chat. With that, users can easily search messages that have been forwarded many times and this can help them find new results or other sources of information related to the content received in the messages.
Users will be enabled to upload the message via their browser and WhatsApp will not be seeing the message itself.
Search The Web has already rolled out for the latest versions of WhatsApp for Android, iOS, and WhatsApp Web and is available in Brazil, Mexico, Italy, Ireland, Spain, U.K., and U.S. for now.
