Transportation has come a long way and when we really think of it, there's a long history behind it too. There used to be a time when the only way to get from one point to another was via horses or other animals, or in the case of no animals, it was by foot. Let's first take a sneak peek inside the history of transportation.
But we can think of the invention of the wheel as the ultimate turning point. As per archaeological evidence, the wheel has known to be invented by Mesopotamia for the purpose of making pottery. But like everything, the wheel's purpose saw variation and reinvention over time. For instance, we have chariots in the records all the way from the times of the ancient Greek civilisation. So the tyres we have today have reached to us thanks to the experiments and inventions of our great ancestors.
So that was the past of transportation. But what does the future hold the transportation industry and for us? After having animal transportation, to using only wheels and then coals and gases, we are now transcending towards the age of electric vehicles. Just like with every other technological advancement, there are advantages to electric vehicles as well.
How exactly are electric vehicles performing right now? China alone has the world's most electric cars running in 2018.
