Snapchat is now adding a new feature to the app, which will let users add music to the videos they record. The feature is going to make Snapchat the latest competitor for TikTok.
This announcement from Snapchat was made after president Donald Trump told reporters about his plan to soon ban TikTok in the U.S., and Instagram revealed its plans to launch its own TikTok competitor app.
The new feature is going to allow users to get more creative around making videos, however, it looks like its design won't make it a full-on TikTok competitor. Apparently, Snapchat won't be adding two key features that TikTok has; a feed of videos set to music and seeing other videos featuring the same song.

The design of Snapchat's feature will enable users to swipe up on a video to view the song's title and artist, along with a link to listen to the music track on a preferred streaming platform.
A spokesman from Snapchat explained that the feature will be introduced to let people share music with ''real friends". The social media company also stated in an email detailing that Snapchat has a wider reach in the U.S. than both Twitter and TikTok combined.
The feature will be released to English language users this fall and will initially be available to New Zealand and Australia.
