Privacy Concerns in Smart Cities

We have entered the digital world where technology is dominating every aspect of our lives. It is continuing to play a vital part in our daily lives. Other than the usual devices that are smartphones or laptops, other tech like backpack, home and office is also being integrated to work with technology. The future is almost here!

Internet of Things is taking over faster than we were ready. It has its ups and downs and you cannot deny that some of this tech is very reliable and affordable through automation. The developed cities use technology to its advantage and to develop even further. Cities of Japan like Tokyo and Kyoto are a fine example. The city uses all the collected data and accumulate them to predict future trends so they can prepare for it.
However, this increases the privacy concerns about invasive tracking of citizens or exploitation of systems for personal benefits or even nefarious reasons. Almost everything is operated using technology and is connected in some way. From traffic lights to transportations, utilities and even environmental sectors. Digital parking meters, parking sensors and so many other systems are in place that can be used to hack data.

Take a look at the following infographic for information on how much technology dominated your city can be.
