The good old days of Google Play Music are coming to an end
as the service will be completely shut down by the end of August, and servers
will be shut down by December. A low number of users and a high number of
competitions have made it nearly impossible for Google's music service to stand
out.
Google Play Music failed to capture market share among the
stiffer competition like Spotify, Amazon Music, and iTunes. This music
platform's fate is very similar to Google+, which Google's attempt for another
social media account was also shut down due to the low number of users.
According to a survey, only 12 percent of people said that
they had used Google Play Music in the last week, compared to 49 percent
answered with Spotify, 33 percent with Pandora, and 32 percent choosing Amazon
Music.

The music streaming service will come to a full closure by
at least September, and users won't be able to upload or download music from
the app anymore. The servers will be shut down in December; hence, any music
collections stored on the app will also be gone. If you are bummed out about
it, don't worry; there is still a lot of time for you to transfer your
collections over to YouTube Music, which is also owned by Google.
