It looks like Facebook is introducing a bunch of new control options for Page followers on its platform. Users would be able to choose options from Advanced Controls that include 'receive all updates or none', 'receive notifications for Highlights only', 'receive notifications for video uploads', and 'switch on or off the Offer Post options'.

Moreover, Facebook is also reportedly working on a redesigned business page that doesn't display the tally of Likes and only shows the Followers. Apparently, the company is replacing using the number of likes to indicate a Page's popularity with the number of Followers to measure its popularity.
It is also apparent that with the new control options for Followers on Pages, Facebook is further reducing the ability for a Page to gain likes. For instance, if a follower only chooses to get notifications for videos uploaded on a Page and turns off all other notifications, then automatically the number of likes will decrease.
With these new controls, the News Feed on Facebook will certainly appear less cluttered and the notification bar as well. However, Page admins might have to deal with bit of a work as they will have to regularly create better and improved quality content in order to cater to all kinds of followers on their Page. They will also have to make their content as engaging as possible, so followers can share it more and more which will help boost the Page's following.
It is not known when these new features will officially be introduced by Facebook, nor has the company personally made any announcement regarding them yet.
