Disney+ was launched in North America and the Netherlands on 12th November 2019. Today, Disney announced that almost after nine months of the launch, the company had hit 60 million paid subscribers. Prior to the launch, the company expected an estimate of around 60 to 90 million subscribers by the year 2024, which now seems like an extremely conservative estimate.
Disney+ has become a tough competitor to Netflix. The infographic below clearly shows how the company’s subscriber rate grew after its launch in various major countries of Europe in March 2020. However, the service was launched in several European countries during a critical time when states like Italy and Spain were at their worst points. However, the rate of paid subscribers has been paced slow since May, but Disney will throw in another boost in the upcoming fall. Disney+ is soon to be launched in more European markets in September and Latin America in November.
