Living in a world that is becoming more digital day by day, we now have so many social media apps around us that they have formed a landscape, a genre of their own. This landscape is full of social media services of all kinds, ranging from those designed for photo sharing, such as Instagram, to videos to status updates and posts, or for calling and messaging in a wide variety of formats. We now even have social media services like Pinterest, designed for users to keep track of everything they are interested in.
Of all these, Facebook is the topmost used social media network in the modern world. Generating billions of dollars, Mark Zuckerberg has also taken over Instagram and Whatsapp under the umbrella. So Facebook Inc. has over four names under its banner, not to forget Messenger. We treat Messenger as a separate app and messaging service because it can be used even if your Facebook account is deactivated. Moreover, Facebook is not the only service but it is one of the most crucial for businesses, as Facebook pages make it easy for small businesses and brands alike to promote their products and services to a specified audience.
In the messaging domain, Whatsapp remains the most widely used app. Its end-to-end encryption and high-quality audio and video calls remain popular amongst users. In fact, we can almost think of it as a replacement to Skype, since Skype once used to dominate the social media landscape, but now wasn't even able to make it to the list.
