The story of mountain biking can be traced to Marin Country, California in the United States of America. This is not to say that there haven't been bikers or riders before that, but rather the gravity of the situation taken by the bikers in Marin County was on a whole other level.
Since mountains are comprised of high and low steeps, mountain bikes are different too. Bike manufacturers started producing lighter bikes to make it easier for bikers to rule every high or low steep that comes along the trail they embark their ride on.
The mountain trail biking has developed as a sport ever since it kicked off in California. This also developed branding opportunities for many companies. There are also a couple of accessories that go with mountain bikers, such as soles by Michelin, new brakes and tyres.
