Spotify has added a new, much asked-for feature to its apps for both Windows and Mac - the apps can now directly start streaming to Chromecast devices. These apps could control pre-existing Chromecast streams previously, but couldn't start streaming directly. Users were required to start a Chromecast stream on their iOS or Android and control it through the desktop app with the help of Spotify Connect.

Now Spotify has made streaming easier for its users as they can start a Chromecast stream on the desktop apps, which will work the same way that streaming via Spotify Connect worked. By clicking on the 'Devices Available' button located on the bottom right of the interface, users can select from the streaming devices including Google Cast and Spotify Connect-Enabled speakers.

This new feature of Spotify is part of their desktop app version 1.1.38, which had been awaited for quite a long time.
